Raven Symone, whose full name is Raven Symone Christina Pearman is widely known as just Raven, a young American actress, singer, songwriter, dancer, comedian and model. She has also produced several television shows and continues to grow her screen presence on the big and little screen. Her initial entrance into the industry came in the late 1980's when she starred in The Cosby Show and later Hangin' with Mr. Cooper. Raven's initial television appearances occurred when she was just two years old, as she starred in various commercials for big brand names, including Ritz Crackers, Fisher Price and Jell-O.
Her big break came when she auditioned for a part in the movie Ghost Dad, starring Bill Cosby. Cosby did not put her in the movie, believing she was too young for the role. However, the three year old did find a place on The Cosby Show, as Cosby's granddaughter Olivia. Raven Symone continued this part until 1992. She moved to the movies in a made for television movie Queen: The Story of an American Family, when she appeared as a young slave in the movie.
By the time she was just five years old, Raven was singing. She signed with MCA Records and took lessons with Missy Elliott. Her first album released in 1993 and was called Here's To New Dreams. One of her songs, "That's What Little Girls Are Made Of" hit #68 on the Billboard Hot 100. The same year, the Cosby Show came to an end, but Raven moved right on to the television show Hangin' With Mr. Cooper. She also landed her first big screen movie when she played Stymie's girlfriend in the movie The Little Rascals.
In May 1999, she released a second album, called Undeniable, which had one single, "With a Child's Heart." She was also cast as Charisse Dolittle in the movies Dr. Dolittle and Dr. Dolittle 2. This year she also began her relationship with Disney. She starred in the movie Zenon: Girl of the 21st Century. Her Disney career would help push her to new levels.
In 2002, Raven Symone auditioned for a part in the television show called Absolutely Psychic, by Disney. She auditioned for a secondary role in the television show. However, the producers liked her so much they positioned her in the lead role, changing the name of the role to Raven Baxter and changing the name of the television show to That's So Raven. The show won Outstanding Children's Program awards at the Emmy Awards in 2005 and 2007.
Raven Symone released her album, Raven Symone in 2008, which was produced by big names including Sean Garrett and The Jam. She also planned The Pajama Party Tour in the spring of 2008, but postponed that tour. The tour did occur though it was renamed the Raven Symone Live Tour and it kicked off in July of 2008 and continued through 2009. In the years to come, Raven would be in various movies and television programs, including College Road Trip, Tinker Bell and Good Hair. She also appeared on Sonny With a Chance and The Great State of Georgia, both television programs.
